2,500 miles northeast of Napa Valley you’ll find a whole other wine country – peaceful, unspoiled, and delightfully uncrowded. Stone’s Throw Winery is located in the heart of Door County, Wisconsin where we make hand-crafted, traditional, one barrel at-a-time premium California grape wines. How do we do it?
Micro-Vinification – What’s That?
It’s what we do here at Stone’s Throw Winery – combining our access to small lots of Premium Grapes from California’s finest growing regions: Napa, Sonoma and Monterey Counties with our commitment to traditional wine making practices: small tank fermentation, judicious use of oak barrels, attention to detail, plus the belief that with great grapes and minimal handling, fine wine is created!
Currently our cellar offers our efforts from the 2005, 2006 and 2007 vintages, including handmade examples of Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling and others.
For the 2008 vintage we night-picked grapes (to keep them cool), drove them in refrigerated trucks direct from California wine country… within 36 hours
of harvest they were crushed and fermenting in our tanks. In addition, this was our third harvest from the vineyard here at the winery.
Come visit, taste, and shop our marketplace. Walk our grounds, and seasonally help yourself to a picnic table or a bocce ball court. In addition, we invite you to visit our website at www.stonesthrowwinery.com for more information on our winery, events, tours, and best of all – our complete list of wines. Also, follow us on Twitter @StonesThrowWine and become a fan on Facebook.
We are located in a 90 year-old-stone barn at the intersection of A & E at Peninsula Center, between Egg Harbor and Baileys Harbor. Watch for the vineyard.
We are in the exact center of the peninsula!
Open daily, all year round 10am – 5pm.
(With the exception of New Year’s Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day).
